Today I layed up the port deck, starboard hull and glassed the seam on the port hull extension. This photo shows a few layers of 9 oz Biaxial tape applied to exterior of hull to hull extension joint. On the interior there are at least 6 layers of 17 or 18 oz Biaxial cloth backed with 3/4 oz mat. The joint strength is critical so West Systems Epoxy is used as it's bonding strength is superior.
The hull extension is very solid. With the addition of the tape added today and the deck that's soon to be added the entire assembly will be VERY strong. I have no concerns about bouncing off a dock or heavy breaking seas damaging the extensions.
