Before Upgrade the small aluminum tube was
severely corroded and cracked due to poor design and
dissimilar metals.
Spacer tube as steel, bolt was stainless and mixed with sea water the aluminum had no chance being the least noble metal. Luckily, I
caught the problem before a steering failure resulted.
Improved
connecting point incorporates a large aluminum block that allows elimination of the steel spacer tube and provides
significant surface area to
achieve a solid weld.
